Green bins… of twigs

The municipality of Glyfada introduces an innovative branch collection service. Using European funds, as announced by the municipality, they have acquired bins for collecting green waste and a special vehicle for their transportation.

What residents need to do is call 15464 or submit a request on Fix My City, one day before they start working in their gardens. The municipality will send the bin for free, so the cut branches, grass, and leaves can be placed directly into it and transported for recycling. This way, sidewalks will not be damaged, cleaning equipment can be used for other tasks, and every neighborhood will function better overall. Glyfada is a clean and welcoming city that becomes more beautiful every day.

It is noted that in the last two years, the municipality of Glyfada has made significant efforts to separate green waste at the source, which is then deposited at the composting plant in Fyli. About 8,000 tons have been recycled, resulting in a financial benefit for the municipality of over 400,000 euros.
